Hi Koji-san!
Thank you for explaining Tsuyu. I did not know about it. Does it affect all of Japan?
Today is Kamehameha Day in honor of King Kamehameha. It is a holiday for most people.
The weather has been hot and sunny here. In fact, the temperature reached a record high on two days this past week.
It's been a while since I've seen a rainbow. I just took this picture about a half hour ago.
I'm on my way to hula! I'm sure we will be practicing very hard tonight! Enjoy your time on Maui next week! We all look forward to seeing you and Sayuri!!!
Aloha! Jen Santo |

Aloha ! Jen san !! Japan is the rainy season.Japan says Tsuyu. Do you know Tsuyu?
Tsuyu is the Japan's characteristic rainy season which begins in the middle of June and last about a month. The beginning of Tsuyu is called " Tsuyu-iri ". The end of Tsuyu is called " Tsuyu-ake ".
At the approach of summer, the warm Pacific high pressure pushes up the cold high pressure on the Sea of Japan. This movement makes the state of the atmosphere unstable, which generates a seasonal rain front. This is the beginning of Tsuyu. Tsuyu ends when the activities of the rain front is weakened by a strengthened Pacific high pressure.
Unlike rainy seasons of other countries, Tsuyu of Japan is chnaracterized by the long spell of rain. So, people should watch out for molds and food poisoning in Tsuyu season. But the rain of Tsuyu is indispensable for the rice growers.
I dislike Tsuyu (>_<)・・・・・ I will go to Hawaii next week!!!!!!! And I want to see you. Please give my love to your family.
I went to Big Island two years ago. This picture is Big Island. Mahalo. |

| Aloha from the Big Island!
|
I went to the Big Island this past weekend to attend my cousin's graduation from Konawaena High School. I flew in to Hilo and drove with my sister, Ann, to Kona. It was nice to see my family.
The first picture is of yellow lehua growing at my grandmother's house in Hilo. The second picture is of pineapple that my father planted at her house. The third picture is of me with some of my cousins. My cousin that graduated from high school is wearing a haku lei.
I hope that everyone is well! We are looking forward to seeing Koji & Sayuri very soon!
Love, Jen Santo |
